Aw, I am sorry to hear this. Many people say that rats are gross and not fit to be pets but they also never had the ability to keep a rodent. I can say I know your pain. I lost 3 hamsters, a gerbil, and a bunny.( my gerbil looked like your handsome/beautiful rat) May our furry pals meet in the critter hotel in Heaven.
"Many people say that rats are gross and not fit to be pets but they also never had the ability to keep a rodent" literally sums up everything. Rats are honestly so misunderstood as domesticated ones are absolutely amazing pets. Mine was adorable, social, intelligent, and so much more. A lot of people think that rats don't have those traits and are actually vicious. However, that's only the case with wild ones. To be fair, you can easily make the same argument with any wild animal. A wild dog, for example, will usually be just as if not even more vicious than a wild rat. A domesticated dog, on the other hand, can easily be as calm as ever. So yeah, thanks for bringing that up. I think about it the same way.
Aww, I’m sorry man. I know people can be kind of insensitive about rodents, but I absolutely understand that they are smart, friendly, and amazing little friends. I would take care of the animal the way that feels right to you disposal or burial wise. Next, I would either leave the cage out if you don’t feel up to cleaning it, or maybe clean it out so that you don’t have to look at it. After that, I would try to get your mind off of everything by hanging out with a friend, watching a movie etc.. Finally, if/when you are ready for a new pet, (or maybe a pair of mice is they’re female), I know that helps a lot of people move on. I am so so so sorry for your loss
I’m so sorry for that I know how it feels, it hurts a little. When my dog died I was okay with it after few days, so you will be fine with it. Again, I am really sorry to hear this I wish you best with other pets you are gonna have or already have! :(
