Indeed. Then people would actually wipe the damn toilet seat.

Because it's illegal to put cameras in bathrooms so it makes rapes considerably more likely?

men can walk into women's bathrooms now and enjoy a whole concentration of pussy to fuck with. if men and women are in the same place it makes it at least marginally harder for men to find them. it also provides a place for people to have consensual sex
Stalls. European bathrooms have them, and WAY better than ours do. Also, you solve rape with a healthy dose of high-velocity metal to the criminal and a loud noise to get help. Not need for cameras, just common decency, common sense, and common defense roughly 2 million times a year according to the CDC.
Ah yes, you stop rape by simply calling for help and hitting them with your handy metal rod! What a genius! Nobody will ever be raped again!
No, you shoot them. Not 100% effective 100% of the time, but it certainly gives pause to attackers. Keeping your head out of your phone and actually maintaining awareness of what's going on also helps, as does actually using prisons for violent criminals instead of filling them with people who happened to have a certain plant growing in their yard. Keeps the prisons from having revolving doors, and dramatically reduces the rate at which people are sent to what are now effectively criminal training centers. Good luck actually doing those things, though: both the prison lobby and the anti-self-defense lobby have a vested interest in the status quo and a powerful pocketbook.
A prison won't hold a rapist who goes unnoticed. Even if the victim has a weapon, the rapist probably will too. Nobody everybody has or is willing to use a gun. Many people will mental illnesses refuse to carry a weapon bc they're more a danger to themselves than to anyone else. People shouldn't have to fear rape just because they have to use a public restroom
rape is a very difficult crime to deal with on many fronts
I fully agree, but I think bc of that every effort needs to be taken to prevent it. And male/female/other restrooms combined is a step in the wrong direction imo
1: A rapist only goes unnoticed so long as their victims stay silent. Gunshot wounds are NOT silent, nor is gunshot residue.
2: Then people need to learn to think for themselves. Simply demanding that everyone else must compensate for your poor decision-making is a GREAT way to turn a once-thriving Republic into a Balkanized madhouse. See example, current-day United States. Speak softly, force violent parties to be accountable for their actions, or take responsibility for your actions.
3: If someone is that much of a threat to themselves, why do they NOT have a custodian or caretaker?
4: No, you shouldn't have to fear rape or other crimes anywhere, but it is a cruel world, and you are your own first responder, whether you like it or not. Has been that way since before H. Sapiens, and will likely be that way ti'll the Great Darkness. Assuming there IS one, which I sincerely doubt.
1. Rape is the most unreported crime in America. There are hundreds of reasons for victims to stay silent, primarily threats from the rapist. An estimated 2 out of 3 rape cases goes unreported.
2. Mental illness is not a choice
3. Because they aren't always that much of a threat. Especially in cases of bipolar disorder, a person may be completely fine on most occasions, but have moments of extreme depression including thoughts of self harm. Having a mental illness doesn't mean you deserve any less freedom than anyone else.
4. I agree it's a terrible, god forsaken shit pool of a planet. But that doesn't mean you sit there and let it happen. Society is something for all of us to share.
Women should carry pepper spray on them at all times. A shit ton of places don't have cameras. By your logic all men are rapists and would take advantage of a woman. Plus, there's cameras outside of the restroom and I'm pretty sure most of the time a woman can identify their rapist. Not to mention only people who are sick in the head would rape someone and most likely in a mixed restroom there's bound to be someone else who would either get help or help directly. Plus, as already stated restrooms aren't sound proof if a woman were to yell for help someone would hear. All in all, it's not as bad as most people think.
