It's probably never going to happen, in the end we can never be 100% sure someone did it unless they openly confess, which in this case seems to be unlikely because the hacker appears to have no sense of what is right

My guess would be someone that you may have previously argued with, or punished. But that would leave you with lots of suspects. Maybe you should have a look at the people you punished near the time of the hack. I'm not sure if you keep a log or something, but that would be my guess. You did mention that it may have been a former staff member, could it be someone that you wanted kicked off the staff team? I don't know, hopefully I opened up your thinking about this issue.

Hmm. Have you tried the basics? Such as changing your password to prevent further attacks? Do you think this is further than simple password guessing?

Yes, either he was keylogging, or something, my first first password was highly secure no one would be able to guess it, and if they get this new one, I will have to do something more severe.
