To be clear, if i understand correctly, you're not saying having sex with kids should be normalized. And you're not saying that having sex with kids isn't bad.

What you're saying is that the actual attraction shouldn't be seen as something that makes the person who has it inherently evil, and it should be restrained instead of forced to go underground.

I feel obligated to address the fact that half of Enjin is pissed at me for my last post. I will declare the following:

1. I am not a pedophile.
2. If I were, I would expect my real friends to support my distress regarding the issue, not to call me disgusting and ostracize me, which increases the risk of someone with pedophilia to take drastic criminal actions.
3. I believe in minimizing human pain, which means taking every reasonable measure to prevent sexual assault, as well as treating people who have issues with their sexual feelings.
4. I do not find any paraphilias, sexual orientations, "kinks", or other forms of sexual attraction to be immoral or inherently punishable.
5. I do find it immoral to discriminate against or ostracize people who do have any paraphilia, sexual orientation, "kinks", or other forms of sexual attraction, and I personally take measures to prevent myself from doing so.
6. Everybody has the right to freedom of speech and expression, and nobody should be punished or silenced for taking any position on this issue.
7. By the same logic, nobody should be punished for their sexual feelings. (I am avoiding the term "sexuality" because my understanding is that some people use the term to mean "sexual orientation", which is semantically narrower than what I'm talking about.)
8. Nobody under the age of consent, according to the applicable laws of their jurisdiction of residence or nationality, should be allowed to consent to intercourse with anyone of any age. I am from a jurisdiction where the age of consent is 16, and that age seems fine to me, personally.
9. Nobody under the age for appearing in pornography, according to the applicable laws of their jurisdiction of residence or nationality, should be allowed to be photographed or recorded in their private parts. I am from a jurisdiction where the age of appearing in pornography is 18, and that age seems fine to me, personally.
10. Nobody should ever be sexually assaulted, coerced, or anything of the like.
11. If you agree with me, you shouldn't feel afraid to speak up about your opinion online or IRL.

Child sex dolls are an option for people to act out their fantasies. It's nothing to do with "normalizing" pedophilia (although normalizing it would be a good idea). People don't commit sexual assault against children because they think their urges are socially normal. That's fucking ridiculous. All this bill could do is encourage people with pedophilia to commit sexual acts upon children, or kill themselves.

This bill is just another reaction to some dumbass's personal disgust with another man's sexuality, and using the bully pulpit against them. The sponsor, Rep. Daniel Donovan (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn), said that pedophilic fanatasies are "enough to make anybody sick", which I think is pretty telling.
