list of things that went well today:
Making delicious shrimp tostadas
speaking to the state BOE about removing PARCC testing as a college admissions test
list of thins that went really, really badly:
my history test. I got a 59% :(
I 10/10 recommend Plastic Memories, if you don't mind it being new. And by new I mean it came out this Spring 2015 anime season... I think you'll like it though, it reminds me a lot of Gokukoku no Brynhildr. c:
Happy Easter everyone! Can't wait to spend it doing the massive quantities of homework that all my teachers felt the need to assign on the same weekend. Who assigns homework on the weekends anyway? ugh.
If any of you have experienced the horror of the PARCC tests, you will know what I mean when I say: NOOOOOOOOO.
Honestly, what were the guys at pearson thinking? I am a very intelligent person, but even three years ahead in math, I cannot answer some of the questions on the test. They say its okay because they want you to show your thinking on a problem you cannot solve. WELL MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE PUT THAT IN THE QUESTION THEN, not give me a score report later that's like "well sorry you failed at a question we expected you to fail at, but we could have given you some credit if you had pretended to solve it" Ugh. Literally cannot stand it, and they're going to try to make it a college entrance exam next year.
So, in conclusion, I am going to speak in front of the colorado school board tonight about why they should, instead, not do that. I am a pretty skilled debater, so I'll probably be fine, but wish me luck. You will know I failed if you don't get into the college of your choice because of low test scores on a test you had no ability to score well on.
There is very little point, but I do kind of see the validity in benchmarking. However, there is no point to a "standardized test" that is not actually standard, extremely subjective and somewhat random.
Finally, nascarboy got forum banned.
I must be clear here. I do not mean to offend anyone.
Nascar was the master of maximizing how offensive he was to even his close friends, but staying within the rules of the forums. Krigermort was a good person. I believe he did nothing wrong, just made some simple mistakes that were blown out of proportion. Also Sven maybe should not have posted that poem, but there was no real harm done. While he never broke any actual rules, nascar broke the unwritten rule that the forums is to be kept a friendly, positive place. I believe the staff made the right decision, and I am sorry it took so much pain on the parts of Kriger and Sven to prove that. Thanks to the staff. This was the right decision, and I applaud you, regardless of any negative feedback you might get. Stay strong, stay positive, Mineplex. Hopefully we can try to remain a weird pocket of decent people in the turbulent sea that is the internet.
OH MY GOD SO EXCITED!
I got a Salsa Spearhead mountain bike for my B-day! It is excellent. Full suspension, nice hydraulic disc brakes, and best of all, CARBON FIBER FRAME! The thing weighs like twenty pounds. So excited. Plus, I get to try it out on a 6-day overnight bike ride this spring break in the maze, Utah. So excited! I'll be out of touch for a while, though, starting Saturday.
Ugh... Computers are so challenging... First it's like lol nope my mic sucks only when trying to pick up piano, and now it's shutting down randomly and now the keyboard is broken. I'ma have to take it apart when I summon the courage to do so. I know what I'm doing, but there's a definite probability that I ruin everything. Fingers crossed. Anyway, I am now using my $75 dollar little touchscreen I use for debate-nowhere near powerful enough to play MC. I will be on the forums, but y'all won't see me on the server for a while.
